This report showcases the inspiring experiences of 33 pioneering farmers from 18 EU Member States who are leading the way towards a more resilient food system by diversifying their production. 

From legumes, quinoa, algae to on-farm processing of soy into tofu and oats into drinks, farmers across the EU are demonstrating how diversification can strengthen farm resilience and generational renewal, create new business opportunities and support the long-term sustainability of EU agriculture.

Based on interviews, the report identifies the key barriers to diversification and outlines the policy measures needed to make diversification work in practice.

On 24 June 2026, the report was launched at a cross-party event in the European Parliament. Participants included Commissioner Christophe Hansen, the Irish Presidency and interviewed farmers.
