Copenhagen - International Vegetarian Day Celebration

Welcome to Copenhagen

Come and celebrate The international Vegetarian Day 1st of October in Denmark, where the Danish Vegetarian Society is arranging an exhibition about the different facets of vegetarianism in the City Hall of Copenhagen. The City Hall is the center of the capital and there will be free admission so we expect a lot of people.

Unfortunately the vegan and vegetarian societies are not growing here. Denmark is the 3rd largest export of pork and of course we also have many cows and poultry here. We are unfortunately a big agriculture country so we need your help to show the Danes that there are many people all over the world who don't eat meat and not only the few people they meet now and then. If we are a great number, people will really notice us.

Copenhagen is one of Europe's oldest and most charming capitals and was recently crowned the third best city in the world to live in. The more than 800-year-old city has a relaxed atmosphere and an appreciation of the cosy side of life - the famous Danish "hygge".

The city is the home of one of the world's oldest monachies and on May the 14th our Crown Prince Frederik got married to Miss Mary Donaldson from Tasmania and pictures of the wedding were transmitted all over the world.

Copenhagen also has the newest Metro in Europe so it is easy to get around.

If you belong to a vegetarian/vegan/animal right society we can offer you a free exhibition table and you will also have a possibility to show videofilms.

The exhibition will be open on Friday the 1st from 10 - 17 and Saturday the 2nd from 10 - 13. On Saturday we arrange a sightseeing and a boat trip before we begin a 2 days conference with the title "Animal welfare and vegetarianism" at a beautiful venue right by the harbour.

The days in Copenhagen will take place in walking distance and we suggest you look at www.woco.dk or www.visitdenmark.dk where to stay even we have some suggestions - one is a vegetarian backpacker inn and if there is interest for it we can arrange overnight accommodation at a school or maybe at our members.

The price for the conference is kr. 500 ( around £ 45) and includes an organic t-shirt with organic print, sightseeing, 1 hours boat trip around Copenhagen, party on Saturday night with a delicious dinner (wine and beer at your own expense) fruit and drinks during the breaks and lunch on Sunday and it will all be vegan and organic.

Please contact me if you want to come.

Many summer regards
