Maxwell Lee
To all EVU members and partners:
It is our sad duty to inform you of the passing away of Maxwell Lee. Maxwell
died very suddenly on 3 March.
Maxwell Lee had huge importance for the development of the vegetarian
movement in Great Britain and Europe. Especially the European Vegetarian
Union owes him a lot because it was Maxwell who in 1985 shared the conference
which later led to the foundation of the European Vegetarian Union of
which he became also the first president until 1991.
Maxwell Lee was an outstanding personality in the vegetarian movement
everywhere. He was an excellent ambassador wherever he went, a talented
speaker with persuasive power and personal charm who eloquently spread
the message of vegetarianism/ veganism throughout the world.
He has given valuable impulses and left his mark on a whole generation
of vegetarians.
On behalf of the board of the European Vegetarian Union, I express our
sincere condolences to his family, to the International Vegetarian Union
and to the Vegetarian Society UK.
