Congratulations to the New Vegetarian Society in Bulgaria

On August 8, 1999 the Bulgarian Vegetarian Society of (BVS) was founded. The regional and national media were present and reported about on the foundation. The new society has 12 members and its President is Tzwetanka Bojadjiiska, who is 20 years old and working in a hotel as a receptionist. She speaks English and French.

The aim of the society is to make the society known and to spread the vegetarian message country-wide. Barbara Rütting, an EVU council member, who has been worked a lot in and for Bulgaria was the promoter of the founding and will be the co-ordinator between the EVU and the BVS.

A street named: Barbara Rütting
Barbara Rütting has been very active in Bulgaria in the past years (see EVU News 4/97 and 1/99) and was recently honoured for all the work she did for the benefit of the people of Bansko: a street was named after her as can be seen in the photo.

The 72 year old Barbara Rütting, (a former famous German actress) was a speaker and chairperson at the recent EVU Congress and was very much acclaimed for her contributions.
