Many more happy years, Arne!

Arne Wingquist celebrated his 80th birthday at the beginning of May

from EVU News, Issue 2/1999

There were family members, relatives, neighbours and friends. The youngest was a few months old and the oldest was Theresia Ek, of 96 the oldest Swedish vegetarian.

Many of the guests were eminent representatives from the vegetarian movement, there were frutarians, raw food eaters, vegans and vegetarians.

The food was excellent: ecologically grown fruits for the fruitarians, raw salads and dishes for all the others.

Many speeches were given about Arne and his devotion to the vegetarian cause.

Arne spent the winter months in Thailand and Australia, giving speeches and lectures everywhere. Then he went to France for a couple of weeks before he returned to Sweden.

Swedish TV made two films of an hour each about the animal right movement in Sweden. The programmes where broadcast on TV in April. The films explain the background of why so many young people turn vegans and engage in the animal right movement.

Arne spoke about living food at the 7th EVU Congress in Widnau.
