New Council Members

Alessandra Schiona, (I) born 25.12.66, has been vegetarian for 13 years for ethical reasons (and in perfect health). She studied nutrition technology at the university of Milan, worked in laboratories and for magazines. After two years in AVI (Associazione Vegetariana Italiana) she collaborated to found a new vegetarian association, the Società Vegetariana. At first she was treasurer and is now working in the secretariat. Besides she is a member in many associations which advocate animal protection.

Dr. Claude Pasquini (L) (22 May, 1949) from Luxembourg has studied Resource Development and Wildlife Biology in the USA. He founded the 'Oeko-Bureau', a consulting office in Luxembourg and was its chief executive officer. Two years ago he founded the first vegetarian/vegan society in Luxembourg and recently 'Vitaverde' an association in the Provence, for the promotion of ecological tourism, vegetarianism, veganism and environmental protection.
Claude Pasquini has published numerous articles on various subjects, he is a (life-)member of many vegetarian societies around the world and is country coordinator of Vegans International for Luxembourg.
He speaks Luxembourgish, French, German, English, Italian and has notions of Spanish and Greek.

Hans van Boven, (NL) (37) has been a vegetarian for 20 years. He studied Dutch Language and Literature at the University of Nijmegen and after graduating he specialised in marketing communication and public relations. In 1987 he started an office for the Dutch Vegetarian Society. Now he runs this office with two employees and he is editor of the bimonthly vegetarian magazine 'Leven & Laten Leven' (Live & Let Live) with a circulation of 8000 copies. Hans van Boven lives with his family in Huizen. He is especially appointed to deal with the V-Label and to take care of EVU's interests in The Netherland as the EV Union is officially registered in Hilversum (NL).
